Livier Bejínez

Livier joined CSAC to learn about and influence evolving campus-wide policy affecting Berkeley staff. She has served on various Student Affairs committees and has worked in several departments such as New Student Services, Office of Admissions, Office of Admissions and Enrollment, and currently at UC Berkeley Extension. Livier has BA from UCSD in Classical Studies, an MA from UCSC in Education Research, and a California teaching credential. When not at work, she spends time with her family and takes coursework toward a graduate degree in theology.

Michael Combs

Mike joined CSAC because of his desire to provide the kind of help and support that he has received in his life, and, in particular, as a learning disabled employee, to push for support of the learning disabled. Prior to his postion in Mail Services Mike was a Merchant Marine, a National Park Ranger on Alcatraz Island and at Fort Point, and an Archivist for the Western Regional Office of Cultural Resources for the National Park Service. He earned an AA from the College of Marin in Liberal Arts and Sciences, a BA in Economics from San Francisco State University, a BS in Farm and Ranch Management from Colorado State University, and completed all course work for the Graduate Museum Studies Program at JFK University. Married for 26 years, he has three daughters, all with recent graduations: one from California State University, Fullerton, one from UC Santa Cruz, and one from kindergarten.

Ian Crew

Ian joined CSAC to gain a greater knowledge of how the entire campus works, and to help support both staff and the campus leadership by encouraging and facilitating communication. Ian has seen many aspects of being an employee at UC Berkeley as an undergraduate student employee, as a front-line staff member, and most recently as a supervisor. He was also a member of the first Leadership Development Program class. Ian holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley as well as a Master of Science in Human-Computer Interaction with Ergonomics from University College London. In his free time, Ian works on fixing up the house he and his wife recently purchased.  Ian will be chair of CSAC in 2009.

Roia Ferrazares

Roia joined CSAC to become more involved in issues such as succession planning and staff health and safety. She has been Office Manager of the L&S Deans' Office since arriving on campus in January of 2006, and before that spent 5 years as a College Administrator at Mills College in Oakland. Roia has a BA in Art History from UCSC . When not at work, she spends evenings as a Berkeley Planning Commissioner and in other volunteer activities in service to the city and school district.

Luisa Giulianetti

Luisa joined CSAC to learn more about staff experiences, and to work collaboratively with her CSAC colleagues towards positive change for staff. Since coming to campus in 1995, Luisa has worked at the Student Learning Center, first coordinating the Writing Program, and since 2001 as an Assistant Director. Her passion is teaching composition and literature, and working with students as they develop their voices as writers. Luisa is actively involved with the Summer Bridge Program and with the Immigrant Student Issues Coalition (ISIC). Luisa has a BA in English from Santa Clara University, and an MA in American Literature from UCSD. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, watching movies and working out in the early morning.

Fabrizio Mejia

Fabrizio joined CSAC because he is interested in furthering his breadth of knowledge about the staff experience at UC Berkeley, and in using this knowledge to advise the campus administration in their policy making process. Before becoming a UCB staff member, Fabrizio briefly worked at a law firm in San Francisco and received his Master's in Educational Psychology at CSU Hayward after completing his undergraduate degree at Cal . In his current position, Fabrizio provides academic counseling, resources, and advocacy for underserved populations such as EOP (first generation and low-income) undergraduates at Cal. Outside of UC Berkeley, Fabrizio is heavily involved in community service and serves on several advisory and executive boards, including the Raza Recruitment and Retention Center and BAHIA Board of Directors.

Dionicia Ramos

Dionicia joined CSAC because she felt it was important to represent staff who work on global issues and make the campus more aware of how University policies impact their unique work experience. Prior to starting her career at UCB, Dionicia received her BA in Legal Studies from UC Berkeley.  She recently completed the Master's program in Public Administration from CSU East Bay and received her MPA with an emphasis in Program Management. In her current position, Dionicia handles the financial matters for the Center for Latin American Studies and coordinates an ongoing program that looks to identify issues facing the U.S. and Mexico and address ways both countries can resolve them together.  Dionicia enjoys working out, often travels to Northern California to visit family, and is an admitted news junkie.

Marcia Gee Riley

Marcia joined CSAC because of her interest in addressing staff issues on campus and her desire to collaborate with staff from across the campus. Marcia received her undergraduate degree in Social Welfare from UC Berkeley and her graduate degree in Counseling / Higher Education from CSU Hayward. She has worked in various departments such as Recreational Sports, the Athletic Study Center, Campus Life and Leadership and currently in the Student Ombuds Office. Marcia has also served on many campus-wide committees and volunteers as a Staff Diversity Facilitator. When not at work, she thoroughly enjoys being with her husband and two boys, engaged in their very active lives.

Syreeta Shepherd

Syreeta joined CSAC in order to contribute to the campus community and work on issues related to staff within the university. Prior to taking her position at UC Berkeley, Syreeta worked at a homeless services agency where she provided administrative support to the executive director and board, as well as meeting facilitation and training to the staff and management teams. Syreeta has a BA from UC Berkeley. She enjoys community service and currently volunteers in a youth music program with Sweet Adelines International.

Cynthia Barnes-Slater

Cynthia joined CSAC to provide service to the campus community regarding university staff issues and to learn more about the campus. Prior to joining UC Berkeley, she held senior level positions in human resources in the private and public sectors. Being at UC Berkeley reminds her of her experience of 11 years of expatriate life and work (3 years in West Africa and 8 years in England). As in any new culture, at Berkeley she endeavors to listen, observe behaviors and navigate diverse communication styles to collaborate on projects effectively with colleagues at all levels. She is a 2007 recipient of the Berkeley Staff Assembly’s Certificate of Excellence in Management. She has two grown sons who are both successful creative artists (actor and musician) and she is a native San Franciscan who now lives in North Oakland.

James Sullivan

Jim joined CSAC with a special interest in fostering strong communication between the university and staff, and in collaborating with others on key issues affecting staff. He has been with the Career Center since 1983, and currently oversees counseling and programs. Jim has worked collaboratively on initiatives with several units on campus including Residential & Student Service Programs, the College of Letters & Science and the Center for Educational Partnerships. For seven years he was also an adjunct faculty member in the Career Development masters program at John F. Kennedy University. Jim has a BA in Journalism and an MS in Counseling, both from San Francisco State University.

Teresa Trice

Teresa joined CSAC to gain a broader understanding of university administration and to provide feedback and perspective about decisions that effect staff. She believes that being involved is an investment in her future, as she intends to dedicate another thirty years of service to the University of California.

Teresa began her career while she was a student at Cal. She has taken on progressively challenging financial and business management positions. She has served in all facets of administration at UCB and UCSD: Information Systems and Technology, Admissions and Enrollment Services, Natural Resources, and is currently at the Chief Administrative Officer at the Institute of Business and Economic Research. Her career accomplishments include completing a sixteen-month Financial Management Certificate Program, attending the UC Business Officer's Institute, and receiving Berkeley Staff Association Excellence in Management award. Outside of UC Berkeley, Teresa is a devoted mother and active member in her community.

Darryl Willie

Darryl joined CSAC to become a true advocate and representative for all levels of staff at UC Berkeley. Darryl also hopes to broaden his scope and knowledge of the campus community through interactions and communication with various administrators. Darryl has worked here at Berkeley for almost two years. Prior to his arrival in the bay he received his masters from the University of Georgia in College Student Affairs Administration. Darryl has also worked as an elementary classroom teacher for three years with the Teach for America program in the Mississippi Delta. He has a passion for student development and understands that the staff greatly effects the student experience.

Erin Wixson

Erin joined CSAC to learn more about the university and to be a voice for staff when the administration decides on issues that affect Berkeley staff. Erin has served on a number of campus wide committees and participated in a variety of campus programs for staff. Prior to working at UC Berkeley, she was Assistant Director of Graduate and Adult Admission at USF, and an Athletic Academic Advisor at West Valley College. Before entering the field of higher education, Erin dedicated her work to social service. She has BA from UC Davis in Human Development and an MA from St. Mary’s College in Counseling Psychology.When not at work, she enjoys golf, her dog and live music.
